International conference TEPA-2012

The Thunderstorms and Elementary Particle Acceleration (TEPA-2012) conference is the second one devoted to the studies of the extreme atmospheric effects connected with amplification of electric fields in the lower atmosphere. The first TEPA conference was organized in 2010 by Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory of Armenia. TEPA–2012 was held at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russia.

International conference TEPA-2010

Conference “The Thunderstorms and Elementary Particle Acceleration” (“TEPA-2010”) was held in the Nor-Amberd  International conference center of Artem Alikhanyan National Laboratory during September 6-11, 2010. The center was formely known as Yerevan Physics Institute.

Organizers of the Conference:

  • Cosmic Ray Division (CRD) of AANL, Армения
  • D.V. Skobelsyn Institute of Nuclear Physics, MSU, Russia.

Forty participant (scientists and students) listened to 37 original reports and talks concerning the following subjects:

  • Surface measurements of the electrons, muons and gamma-rays, generated by RREA processes (Thunderstorm ground enhancements – TGEs).
  • Terrestrial gamma-ray flashes (TGFs) observations by means of orbital observatories.
  • Obervations of electromagnetic sygnals from thunderstormns and extensive air showers (EAS).
  • Transient luminous effects (TLE) in the upper atmosphere.
  • Relativistic runaway electron avalanche (RREA) – simulations and theory.
  • Comsic rays and space weather.

International workshop “UNIVERSAT”

An international workshop “Universat” (Univeristy satellites) was held in M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University during June 7-10, 2010. The Workshop concerned realization of the MSU space projects – scientific and educational satellites “Lomonosov”, “RELEC”, “Universitetsly-Tatiana-2”, and the space project “Chibis”, being developed by Space Research Institute of RAS (IKI RAS) in collaboration with Moscow State University.
