BDRG
Block for X-ray and gamma-radiation detection
The device is intended for monitoring and locating of gamma-sources at the celectial vault within the gamma-range and for the development of the trigger signal for the ShOK wide-angle optic cameras.
What’s an idea of the measurement method?
Three complexes of scientific equipment onboard “Lomonosov” satellite will provide multi-wave measurements of gamma-bursts, which are necessary for the studies of the nature of these astrophysical sources. These complexes are BDRG, ShOK and UFFO providing gamma-bursts’ measurements within optics, gamma, X-ray and UV-ranges of electromagnetic spectrum.
Besides, BDRG provides:
- monitoring of the transient astrophysical phenomena (“X-ray novas”, “Gamma-repeators”, etc.)
- timing of soft gamma-radiation of the X-ray double stars and pulsars.
- patrol of the solar radiation within the gamma-range.
Three identical gamma-detectors will be mounted onboard the satellite.
